40 mm F2.8 Heliar aspherical

The HELIAR 40mm F2.8 Aspherical VM / L is a compact quasi-wide-angle lens with a lens configuration of 5 elements in 3 groups based on the Voigtlander traditional Heliar type. The 40mm angle of view, which is between the 50mm standard lens and the 35mm wide-angle lens, is highly versatile as a regular lens. By adopting the latest optical design and aspherical lens, the filter diameter is as small as φ34 mm, and the total length of the product from the mount surface is 21.2 mm (VM bayonet mount) and 20.2 mm, while ensuring optical performance that can be used safely from the maximum aperture. (L * 1 screw mount) is realized.
The retro-style exterior is extremely compact, and it is a lens that combines the mobility of a rangefinder camera as a snap shooter with the joy of owning it due to its beautiful exterior design. The shortest shooting distance is 0.7m, which has a feeding stroke not found in vintage lenses that use this style of rotating helicoid, and the design prevents the helicoid from being exposed on the lens outer cylinder even when shooting at the shortest distance, resulting in an external environment such as dust. It is a strong specification. In addition, the focus lever is equipped with an infinite position lock mechanism like a vintage lens, which is useful when operating the aperture ring or attaching or detaching the lens.

VM-Mount

M-39 Version

There are two types of lens mounts, VM and L. The HELIAR 40mm F2.8 Aspherical VM is a bayonet mount, and the bright frame of a rangefinder camera equipped with a function that automatically identifies the attached lens by mechanical interlocking displays the shooting range of the 50mm lens. The HELIAR 40mm F2.8 Aspherical L uses a φ39mm screw mount, so you can enjoy shooting by attaching it to a rangefinder camera of the same standard in the east and west. In addition, by using a commercially available L / M adapter ring * 2 together, it is possible to display the bright frame of a 35mm lens on a rangefinder camera equipped with an automatic shooting frame switching function. For this reason, it is also effective when you feel that the frame indicating the shooting range is too narrow at 50 mm. The exterior material is brass for both mounts, and two types of finishes are available: black and chrome.
For the black model, the mount is finished in black * 3, and the focus lock button, focus lever and infinite / short-distance stopper are nickel-plated to add an accent to the design. All lenses come with a special screw-in hood with a machined brass material and a black chrome finish.
The optical design of this lens is optimized for use with rangefinder-linked digital and film cameras, but it is also expected to be used with mirrorless digital cameras using a mount adapter, and is linked to rangefinders. It also supports shooting on various platforms beyond the framework of a type camera.
