Unique vintage character, optimized for modern full-frame mirrorless cameras with electronic signal transmission.

This extremely fast and compact wide-angle lens is available exclusively with a Nikon Z-mount. It is designed for photographers who seek the unmistakable charm and artistic aesthetics of classic lenses without having to sacrifice the convenience of modern camera technology.

The Appeal of Imperfection: A Creative Tool for Sophisticated Bokeh

At Voigtländer, the name “NOKTON” has traditionally stood for lenses with a particularly high maximum aperture of over F1.5. While in the 1950s, light gathering ability in difficult conditions was the primary focus, today the maximum aperture of F1.4 serves primarily as a creative element.

Key Features:

– Exclusively developed: Tailored for Nikon Z

-Full-frame coverage: Optimized for high-resolution full-frame sensors.

– Classic look: Symmetrical dual-Gauss design for that coveted vintage look.

– Smart Connectivity: Electronic contacts for EXIF data, image stabilization, and focus assistance.

The NOKTON classic 35mm F1.4 deliberately breaks with the trend toward purely performance-oriented, clinically sharp lens designs. Thanks to a symmetrical double-Gauss design (8 elements in 6 groups), the lens deliberately retains certain aberrations that give classic lenses their unique character.

At wide aperture (F1.4): A soft, natural bokeh and a gentle visual effect create a sense of depth and a dreamy atmosphere.

When stopping down: The lens gains contrast and delivers the razor-sharp image quality required by modern sensors.

Photographers thus gain access to two completely different image styles in a single tool.

Mechanical Perfection and Modern Connectivity

The body of the NOKTON classic 35mm F1.4 is made entirely of metal and reflects Voigtländer’s traditional craftsmanship. Focusing is purely manual via a high-precision helicoid screw, which offers a silky-smooth, precisely controllable resistance. The 10-blade aperture is adjusted mechanically via the easy-to-grip aperture ring on the lens, ensuring circular, aesthetically pleasing bokeh (e.g., with point light sources). With a minimum focusing distance of just 0.27 m, the lens also enables expressive close-ups.

Despite its classic handling, the lens is technically state-of-the-art: Integrated electronic contacts ensure communication with compatible camera bodies. This enables the transfer of EXIF data, supports the camera’s internal image stabilization (IBIS), and activates the camera system’s modern focusing aids.

The package includes a screw-on metal lens hood that matches the design.
